As the “crown jewel” of high-end manufacturing, the integrated circuit (IC) constitutes one of the important indicators to measure the comprehensive strength of a state as well as the core of the information industry. China, holding a key position in global manufacturing, has its market of the integrated circuit realize 1 trillion Yuan. Along with constant improvements of national policies on promoting the integrated circuit industry, the semiconductor industry has become the highest priority in the 13th National Five-year Plan. The domestic integrated circuit industry characterized by collaboration, innovation, openness and cooperation is presenting a brand new pattern. Meanwhile, the national investment fund on the integrated circuit industry has been a great impetus, which drives successive establishment of local funds, effectively relieves difficulties in investment and financing and brings along investment on key projects. The 13th Five-year Plan period is expected to welcome the profound adjustments and changes to the global integrated circuit industry and become an important opportunity to realize the “gorgeous turn” of the industry.
Great Demands Highlighting China Opportunities; Start the Big Time of the Integrated Circuit Industry with IC China
“Where there is the market, there is the industry”. China has become the largest market of demand on the base circuit worldwide. As the demand is driving the global integrated circuit industry transfer to China, the China market and opportunities could not be ignored by anyone. China International Semiconductor Expo & Summit, IC China, based on the huge IC demand in China, has become the most influential national grand gathering of the semiconductor industry through development over a decade.

Ultra-Large Scale Integrated Circuit Manufacturing Technology and Whole Set of Processes (Program 02) Exhibition Area
The Program 02, ultra-large scale integrated circuit manufacturing technology and whole set of processes, is one of the 16 key technology programs confirmed in the National Guideline on Medium- and Long-Term Program for Science and Technology Development (2006-2020), and is considered as the highest priority of science and technology development of China by 2020. The Program 02 exhibition area set up under the background aims to reflect the results of the relevant technology industry in an all-around and timely way and has been the highlighted exhibition area of IC China for over a decade. In addition, many enterprises of another national major program of science and technology closely related to the integrated circuit: Program 01 – Core Electronic Device, High-End Universal Chip and Basic Software Products, also appear in the exhibition. A batch of enterprises embracing advanced results will gather here, including Program 02 enterprises represented by Shanghai Sinyang, Shanghai Micro Electronics Equipment, China Micro Semiconductor, Raintree Scientific Instruments, Shanghai Micro Electronics and ACM etc., and Program 01 enterprises represented by Spreadtrum, Huada and Datang etc.

Exhibition Area of Design, Manufacturing, Assembly & Test and Semiconductor Support Industry (Equipment and Materials)
Key factors for the rise of the semiconductor industry in China incorporate the huge market demand and favorable policies. The integrated circuit industry in China has seen further improvement in the scale and achieved outstanding performance in development level. The pattern of IC design, wafer fabrication and assembly & test has been exposed to constant changes, where the whole industry develops towards the fore-end design and wafer fabrication, the proportion of assembly & test sector declines, the industry structure is optimized and the added value of the industry is increased.
Exhibition area of semiconductor design: The integrated circuit industry in China in developing to higher technology content and more rational industry structure. For a typical instance, the chip design is occupying an increasing proportion; the proportion of the design industry chain has exceeded the assembly and test sector; and the design sector of China mainland takes up over 10% of the world and ranks the 3rd only after USA and Taiwan, which brings forward a great number of orders on the downstream chip fabrication and assembly and effectively promotes synergetic development of the industry chain. IC China has gathered top chip designers that are active in Chinese market, including NXP, MediaTek, UniIC, Spreadtrum, Huada, On-Bright and Leadcore etc.
Exhibition area of semiconductor manufacturing: Domestic enterprises engaged in wafer fabrication are commonly exposed to full-capacity production or expansion of production at the production lines due to increase of orders driven by the growing semiconductor market. As the government is constantly releasing favorable policies and many cities including Wuhan, Hefei, Xiamen, Nanjing and Chongqing and so on make concentrated efforts and have launched a batch of 12-inch integrated circuit projects, the production capacity of 12-inch production lines will usher in rapid growth in next few years. UMC, SMIC, Shanghai Huahong and Wuhan Xinxin have joined IC China for several years in succession.
Exhibition area of assembly & test: The assembly & test sector has taken up a high proportion in the integrated circuit industry in China for a long time due to relatively lower requirements on technology, small investment and rapid returns. As pushed by significant increase in domestic design orders and overseas orders in recent years, the domestic assembly & test industry has maintained rapid growth. The exhibition area of assembly & test of IC China has attracted global top enterprises in assembly and test, including ASE, Amkor, Changjiang Elec., Huatian and Tongfu Microelectronics etc.
Exhibition area of semiconductor support industry (equipment and materials): The support industry including equipment, instruments and materials lays the foundation for development of the semiconductor industry. The independent semiconductor industry cannot be established in China without development of the support industry. The manufacturing development would be subject to technology blockade by western countries if no independent high-end equipment. Currently, China has over 30 types of high-end equipment attain 14-nm level in the area of integrated circuit. A batch of advanced enterprises of semiconductor support industry have gathered in the platform of IC China, including China Micro Semiconductor, Ningbo Konfoong, DISCO, ACCRETECH, CETC Electronics Equipment and Shanghai Cascol etc.
Pavilion of Innovative Application of Semiconductor
Exhibition Area of Application of Integrated Circuit and the Internet of Things (Memory, CPU, MCU and Analog Circuit), MEMS Sensor, Automotive Electronics, Electrostatic Prevention and Intelligent Manufacturing
The growth of the integrated circuit market in China in recent years is mainly driven by segments of automotive electronics, industrial control and communication equipment etc. IC China provides support to reform of the semiconductor industry in China, constantly promotes product differentiation, defines chips based on terminals, mainly displays the chip application in industrial control, automotive electronics and sensors and drives supply-side structural reform of chip products.
Memory: The memory chip market in China has realized the steady growth by 7.2% this year, accounting for 24% of the domestic market of the integrated circuit. Wuhan, Shenzhen, Hefei and Quanzhou and some other places are planning or constructing the production lines for memory chips, suggesting the all-around realization of the layout of memory products, which symbolizes that the center for global memory development of the next round will be gradually moved to China. UniIC Group, an important participator of IC China, is accelerating the execution of its plan for memory development and attempts to ascend to global Top 5 memory manufacturers within ten years. YMTC, Bowei Memory, Jinjiang Memory and some other brands will appear in the exhibition.
Server: The CPU chip has dropped to 11.8% along with the slower development of PC market. The first “made-in-China” global high-end CPU, Tianjin PHYTIUM, will join IC China. The participator Montage Technology is conducting in-depth cooperation with Intel and Qualcomm on server chips.
